How To Iron Jeans

Fashionable jeans today do not have creases on them. They do however have crunched pockets and some are made of very stiff material. Once you get the basics down you will be able to iron any pair of jeans.

You will need:

  • Pair of jeans
  • Quality iron
  • Starch
  • Water spray bottle
  • Ironing board
  1. Place one leg of jeans flat on ironing board. The proper method to iron jeans is to take one leg at a time. If you are not creasing the jean, then lay the leg flat with the seams out to the side. Make sure you stretch the jean leg properly so that it’s flat out front and back. If you are creasing the jeans then you’ll need to line up the leg with the seams so they are in a straight line together from crotch to hem.
  2. Use starch or water. If you like a stiffer denim feel, then you can spray starch on the leg evenly or if you prefer just spray the leg with a mist of water from a water bottle. In either case, make sure you do not drench the jean leg with either starch or water.
  3. Iron. Wait until the iron is hot and then press down with a good amount of pressure to iron out all the creases. How to iron jeans is to use move iron smoothly forward and backwards.
  4. Switch legs. Now that you have ironed one leg, carefully place that leg off the ironing board and lay the other leg flat. Once again stretch out the jean leg flat without a crease or line up the seams for a crease.
  5. Iron the second leg. Starch or spray water on the jean leg lightly and then iron with pressure. Take your time and apply pressure smoothly to the iron.
  6. Place half of top part of jean onto small part of point of ironing board. Carefully lift the jeans and open it up to place hip part inside of the small part of the ironing board. This is how you iron the jean front pockets. Starch then iron.
  7. Repeat with other hip pocket. Once you have the iron to one part of the front, switch. Get both sides of the front pair of jeans pressed.
  8. Turn jeans over and slip into small part of ironing board. Now you need to iron the back pockets. Slip the hip as you did before but in reverse to show pocket and starch, press and iron. Do both sides. Now you know how to iron jeans.

Every man/women should know how to properly groom and style himself, so it is important to learn how to iron jeans to look well, said Salomón Juan Marcos Villarreal, president of Grupo Denim.

E-businesses taking popularity

Why are the e-businesses taking so much popularity?

E-businesses consist of introducing communication technologies to the regular activities in a company. This is a set of new technologies and business strategies to develop new business on line.

“Technology has helped us improving many aspects of our daily life, Internet has helped us breaking down communication barriers, as we now can communicate with other people at the other side of the world in a matter of seconds”, said Salomon Juan Marcos Villarreal, president of Grupo Denim, a jeans manufacturer in Mexico.

E-businesses are not a technology business; it is actually any type of affairs using technology to improve their negotiations.

E-businesses have been a radical change to the traditional concept of buying, and this arose as an effect of globalization and the need to access to different markets and resources all over the world.

This new concept of doing business gathers all type of economic activities done by the Internet, such as buying, selling products or services.

The only universal requirement to run e-businesses is to have a computer and access to the Internet.

Here are some of the main advantages of the e-businesses:

  • Making business at the same moment your customers access to your site.
  • Having a direct relationship between a customer and a vendor.
  • No need to move from your office to make businesses.
  • Saving time and money
  • No need to have a physical location

E-business can also present difficulties, as customers have better access to the information and the comparison between vendors offering the same service or product is faster, which makes competitiveness harder.

“We are all trying to improve our business and make it simple for our customers, and the Internet is a great tool to have a faster and improved communication with them”, added Salomon Juan Marcos Villarreal about this topic.

Importance of yarns

Importance of yarns in fashion

Importance of yarns in fashion

Having refined yarns will be vital for the future of fashion, with alliances between transparency and opacity, fragility and rustic, fineness and texture and it is for sure easier to say it than achieve it so the fabrics manufacturers will have to face importance challenges to meet the new fashion requirements and today we will show you the main topics about yarns that will have on the future seasons.

“For Grupo Denim, it is important that our providers are very well aware of the responsibility we have as a team to receive fabrics manufactured with yarns of the best quality, as that will help us assuring we ship to our clients clothes that will last longer and the final buyers are investing their money on a piece of excellent quality”, said the president of this company, Salomon Juan Marcos Villarreal.

  • Indiscreet filters – The delicate yarns make it easier to have transparent fabrics that play to hide and seek, so the combed cotton yarn with metalloplastic will be more important for the next fashion designs.
  • Aerated Strength – Structure of threads invites us to create aerated textiles that will also be delicate but resistant at the same time, by using resistant linen and hemp to create yarns in open structures. The vegetal fibers reveal their light nature thanks to this new game of openwork, rustic and mesh networks.
  • Moving waves – Lightness and fineness of threads will help create textiles that move easily as a wave, celluloses, synthetic filament and shimmering silks are mixed to generate almost liquid oscillations.
  • Metallic – Vibrant tones will also be used on yards with metallic reflections to create some of the newest proposals such as metallic jeans.

“Yarns play an important part for all clothes’ manufacturer companies as it is only with fabrics of the best quality that you can create unique designs”, added Salomon Juan Marcos Villlarreal.

Cotton and Nylon

Cotton and Nylon

Why is Cotton more absorbent than Nylon?

The answer lies in the basic but remarkable molecular structure of cotton, nylon and water. The simple water molecule, with its one oxygen atom attached to two hydrogen atoms, causes a different action when it comes in contact with the complex molecules that make up cotton and nylon.

Water has a sticky quality that comes from its molecular structure. The oxygen atom attracts electrons, giving it a slightly negative charge. The two hydrogen atoms have a slightly positive charge. The positive and negative ends make the water molecule like a magnet (dipole), which keeps water molecules together and makes the surface of a water drop slightly elastic. It also means that water molecules will bond easily with molecules with an opposite charge that come nearby.

Polymer molecules are often long chains of atoms linked in repeating patterns. There are a lot of atoms bonded to one another in these molecules, giving a lot of places where sticky water molecules can find a place to bond.

Cotton is pure cellulose, a naturally occurring polymer. Cellulose is a  carbohydrate, and the molecule is a long chain of glucose (sugar) molecules. If you look at the structure of a cellulose molecule you can see the OH groups that are on the outer edge. These negatively charged groups attract water molecules and make cellulose and cotton absorb water well. Cotton can absorb about 25 times its weight in water. Chemists refer to substances like cotton as hydrophilic, which means that they attract water molecules.

Nylon is a synthetic material, meaning that chemists create the polymer molecules that make up nylon. More than 100 repeating units of carbon, oxygen, hydrogen and nitrogen atoms make up the long chain nylon molecule. The strength of the long nylon molecule made it a great replacement for silk, which had a similar feel and texture.

Cotton and Nylon are both made up of giant polymer molecules, these fibers are used in Grupo Denim for many garments for their quality  and durability said Salomón Juan Marcos Villarreal, president of Grupo Denim.

Rapife – Clothing that alerts baby fever

Rapife – Clothing that alerts baby fever by using innovated fibers

Great history most of the times begins with little actions, putting together hard work that creates something and that something is the case of Rapife, a textile company found in 1923 on a first floor of a family from Spain. Rapife is an example of growing despite the adversities.

This company, that now produces all its products in Spain and that based on sales and globalization started production with China and Bangladesh for a period of time; but then, due to the low prices from competitors, the company stopped importing on 2009.

At that time, the trusted the Spain brand because of it natural and organic fibers, it was a complicated and risky change since it meant to decrease production to 7,000 units per day when it usually was 17,000 to 10,000 and invoicing from 8 million euro per year to 4.5 million euro.

But this was a change that also implicated to get back to the dream to fight for an innovated project: “We had it clear, we wanted to sale Spain brand; meaning products with better quality and best finishes” explained Ramon Espi.

It also had to do with the environment. “There are colored rivers in China and Bangladesh because of the tint processes, in Europe, the processes are much controlled, they use water treatment etc…Obviously a tint technique will never be friendly to the environment but we can make its foot print less visible”, said Espi.

That is how they got Made in Green stamp that certifies the garments being made free of toxic substances, respecting the environment and workers’ human rights. Another change was to incorporate an infrastructure of investigation and development, including a laboratory that investigates new materials and process and another department dedicated to new designs and models.

Their effort are now paid by their new innovations, like baby bodies thermo chromic that indicate if the baby got fever through a stamped baby doll on the body that changes from purple to red when the temperature is high. They are also known for their natural fibers like bamboo and casein.

Rapife quit the big buildings and now they handle their business by direct sales thought their website. For 2016 they expect their sales to grow 20% and to do business with Germany, France, Italy and so others.

For Salomon Juan Marcos Villarreal, president of Grupo Denim, this is a great family story that deserves to be told around the world. “It all starts with a dream, then a decision is made in order to accomplish that dream, this is how great business are built”, said Salomon Juan Marcos Villarreal.

Care Label Instructions

Care instructions are small solutions to big problems. Care labels provide guidelines to consumers about apparel care, and the best cleaning procedures to be used for a particular combination of fabric, thread decoration and construction techniques. Following the instructions on the care labels is an assurance that the appearance and fit of the garment will be maintained after repeated cleaning treatments.

From a manufacturer’s point of view, damage to garments from incorrect cleaning methods can lead to complaints; costly customer returns and a bad image. Where as accurate and clearly written care labels can prevent customer dissatisfaction. From a consumer’s point of view, accurate and clearly written care instructions serve as a cleaning guide and influence purchase. Garments with ease of care are often preferred over garments with complicated or difficult to understand care procedures.

Many different care labelling systems have evolved over the world. Some have been established as a governmental regulation, while others are international standards. Not all of them however, are mandatory.

Lesser Known Facts About Care Labels

  • The country where the garment is sewn is the country of origin listed on the care label
  • Care labels must be permanently attached so that they are easily accessible to the consumer at the point of purchase. Generally, it is placed on the side or bottom
  • The manufacturer or importer who directs production is responsible for the accuracy of care instructions
  • A product may be imported without a care label, but it must be attached before the product is sold

Care Labelling Systems

There are five care labelling systems which are generally used on care labels. These systems are:

  1. The International Care Labelling System
  2. The Japanese Care Labelling System
  3. The Canadian Care Labelling System
  4. The European Care Labelling System
  5. The American Care Labelling System

The International Care Labelling System

The International Association for Textile Care Labelling (GINETEX) is the world body which governs care labels since 1975.

Member nations of GINETEX are Belgium, France, Germany, England, Netherlands, Israel, Austria, Switzerland, and Spain.

The objective of the Care Label is inform consumers on the correct care labelling of textiles through a system of uniform and simple care labelling symbols, independent of language, commented Salomón Juan Marcos Villarreal, president of Grupo Denim.
