Winter is almost over and as the days starts feeling hotter, some people thinks of going out and buy shorts for the new season, but you do not need to spend any extra money on this, as today we will show you how to turn some old jeans you do not wear anymore, into shorts.

Salomon Juan Marcos Villarreal, president of Grupo Denim, a manufacturing enterprise said the following: “Denim is easy to handle, if you have basic experience in sewing, you can transform any garments made of this material into something different, such jeans that can become shorts”

Here are the steps to turn those old jeans into shorts:

  1. Choose your jeans – You need to pick those that you are sure you do not want to wear anymore as jeans, they should fit better on you, especially on those parts you are not cutting, such as your hips and waist.
  2. Size the length of your shorts – It will depend on how long you want it to be to put a mark where you will cut them out.
  3. Add extra inches – Remember to add a couple of extra inches for the hem.
  4. Cut the fabric – Follow the mark you have previously drawn and use sharp scissors so the cut is not irregular.
  5. Do the hem – Use a sewing machine with the correct needle for denim.

Those are the basic steps you need to follow and you will have a new garment in your wardrobe, as you can see, the steps are easy to follow and this is a pretty cheap process.

If you want to go further, you can add paint, or add fabric scraps to your shorts to make them look more modern, you can also try to put different accessories to the back pockets.

“Denim is a very versatile fabric, and it lasts for too long, which makes it a good option to turn your jeans into shorts and give them a new life”, added Salomón Juan Marcos Villarreal.

TIPS ON HOW TO WEAR BLUE JEANS ELEGANTLY

A pair of blue jeans is probably the one single item of clothing that everyone owns. What was once a sign of anti-establishment rebellion has now become a staple worn by just about everyone, regardless of their different personal styles.

They are comfortable to wear, easy to look after and, paired with the right outfit and accessories, they can  be as good for a day in the office, as they are for a day relaxing at home said Salomón Juan Marcos Villarreal.

  1. Straight-Leg Jeans with heels

When you’ve got a great brand new pair of heels to wear, roll up the ankles of a pair of classic straight leg blue jeans and show off those heels in style. It’s a great way to tone down what might otherwise look a little bit of a mismatch between formal and casual.

  1. Skinny jeans and thigh length boots

Get the ‘Pretty Woman’ look, by pairing your skinny or straight leg jeans with a pair of thigh high boots. It’s the perfect way to add drama to your look and the guys just love those boots too. For a great, relaxed, daytime look, try matching your blue jeans and thigh length boots with a long, chunky cardigan and a cuffed shirt.

  1. Cuffed jeans and ankle boots

You can give a pair of straight jeans a completely new look by not tucking them into your ankle boots, but cuffing them just above the boots instead. It looks fanatic when you pair this with black boots and a black leather jacket. It’s very reminiscent of the old rocker style, but it works just as well, in a softer way, with beige boots or brown.

Blue jeans will never go out of style, so wear them elegantly and add your own touch of uniqueness to your wear-anywhere jeans commented Salomón Juan Marcos Villarreal, president of Grupo Denim.

Wrinkle resistant updates

Wrinkle resistant updates on cotton fabric

It seems everybody in the world is allergic to iron activities, but we all agree that wearing wrinkled clothes is not a professional thing to do. Thanks to heaven we have “wrinkle resistant” garments and avoiding ironing is the most logical reason why they become so popular; however, the actual methods for producing these type of fabrics are always connected to chemicals, which worries people that care for their health.

Some other methods have been developed but still, chemicals are involved or they are very very expensive. Yiqi Yang and colleagues’ team worked to investigate chemicals that would have wrinkle resistant properties but without needing formaldehyde, which is a very dangerous chemical. Afterwards, the team tested combinations of these chemicals; and the best combination was citric acid with xylitol, although the citric yellowed the fabric, the xylitol eliminates this and the wrinkle resistant result is better, also this combination is born from renewable raw materials; therefore, it is friendly with the environment, adding that its costs effective is improved vs other green results and can compete in price with the other chemicals that use formaldehyde.

The source of the above investigation is from the American chemical society, information that help us to understand how much we need to care about our planet and how is the science working to have or generate  “greener” solutions each day.

Salomon Juan Marcos Villarreal, president of Grupo Denim, is also a great entrepreneur worried about our legacy and foot print to the environment; therefore, he and his team are always dedicated to use the most sustainable products in order to reduce the negative impact to the environment. “We are a responsible company that practices sustainability, we always check first if the products to be used are in environmental performance, before starting a new development”, explained Salomon Juan Marcos Villarreal.

Tips to wear your tight jeans

You might think tight jeans are part of a transient trend, but that is not entirely accurate, as these type of jeans are here to stay, and for this reason, it is important to know how to combine them to make your outfit look good, if you want to learn how to wear these pants during the day, just following the steps we will share with you this time.

“There are lots of different designs for jeans now, which makes it easier to find a type that will meet everybody’s styles”, says Salomón Juan Marcos Villarreal, president of Grupo Denim.

Here are some advices to choose the best tight jeans for you:

  • Pick a color – Light colors and striking stamps will make your legs call for more attention, so make sure you wear them only if you are trying to get a funnier outfit. But, if you want your tight jeans to make you look skinner, then go for a darker color. If you want to look stylish and wear your tight jeans for work, pick the black ones.
  • Choose jeans of the right size – Jeans are made of denim, which is less flexible than other fabrics, so if you want your jeans to stretch out a little bit, have a pair of them made of denim and spandex, as they would give you the freedom to bend and move easily. Make sure your jeans are lose enough so you can move, but not so much that they will ruffle.
  • Select low, medium or regular fits – When you buy tight jeans, try each different fit so you can see which one fits you better, if your waist is wider, do not choose jeans too tight on the waist.
  • If you have a smaller waist, tight jeans are perfect are your waist will stand out and balance your legs and hips.

“Tight jeans come in different fits and fabric compositions so they would adjust to any type of bodies and the different washes and colors make them eligible for everyone”, added Salomón Juan Marcos Villarreal.

Sustainable textiles

Sustainable textiles

Sustainable textiles and their importance for the environmental care

Textile industry started on XXI century and it has suffered some major changes since then, biology, microelectronics and nanotechnology has made it possible for manufacturers to incorporate new process with natural fibers in order to get sustainable textiles that are very important to take care of the environment.

These sustainable textiles being considered now for multiple uses and not only for clothing, as it makes an important contribution to decrease global warming, because of the biodegradability they have, as natural fibers can biodegrade in months.

“New times have new demands and being complete aware of the importance of environmental care is vital to be able to conserve our world as we know it” was the opinion of Salomon Juan Marcos Villarreal, in regards to this topic.

Consumers are also more conscious about the importance of caring for environment and are starting to look for garments made of sustainable textiles, as they are comfortable, and look very similar to any other textile, the only negative side they find is the high prices they might reach at the market due to the newest technologies being used to create textiles with natural or regenerated fibers.

Textile products produce enough sources of work for more than 40 million workers around the world, so textile producers are working to get the new technologies and machinery that will help them create sustainable materials by offering competitive prices and taking care of the environment at the same time.

“It is very important to protect the environment from all possible sides, it is very exciting to see how sustainable items are getting stronger, that means awareness of the value of making changes today to take care of our planet”, added Salomón Juan Marcos Villarreal, president of Grupo Denim.

Mistakes You’re Making Washing Your Jeans

 Washing your Jeans

5 Big Mistakes You’re Making Washing Your Jeans

Some swear you should never machine wash jeans (or wash them at all for that matter), but most of us toss this wardrobe staple in the washer along with other clothes every week.

  1. Washing them right side out

No matter the cycle, the very act of machine washing and drying is abrasive to fabrics because the garments rub against each other in the turning, tumbling load. To help minimize the color loss this can cause, turn jeans inside out before placing them in the washer and leave them inside out until you remove them from the dryer. Zip all zippers and fasten all buttons and snaps, too.

  1. Cramming too many pair in at once

The more garments you stuff into a load, the faster you’ll get done, but the more the more wear and tear your fabrics will endure. Without room to move, zippers and rivets can snag and stitching can break. Your clothes should circulate or tumble freely, so they are thoroughly cleaned and dried and don’t emerge from the machines in a tangled knot.

  1. Choosing the wrong cycles

The newer you want your jeans to look, the gentler you have to wash and dry them. While hand washing and line drying is safest, it’s also costly in terms of time and effort. Unless your jeans are particularly dirty, it’s best to wash them in cold water, select one of the gentler cycles, and dry them at a low temperature.

  1. Skipping a color-preserving detergent

Special detergents formulated to preserve dark colors really do work. They have ingredients to help fabrics hold onto dyes and to deactivate the chlorine in the water that can fade colors. If you want to keep your dark jeans dark, it’s worth investing in a special detergent.

  1. Leaving them in the dryer too long

Fabrics shrink when left in the dryer too long to get over-dried and “fried.” All fabrics and especially jeans benefit when you take them out of the dryer slightly damp. Simply tug and smooth them into shape and let them finish drying flat or on a hanger. If, even after tumbling on low heat and a delicate cycle, you see lots of lint on the dryer’s filter, you may want to switch to line drying your jeans to help preserve the fabric.

To keep your basic blue and black denim looking as new as possible, be sure to steer clear of these fabric damaging mistakes added Salomón Juan Marcos Villarreal president of Grupo Denim.

E-Commerce killing big retail stores

ecommerce killing big retail stores

E-Commerce killing big retail stores, should we all get on line?

Internet crushed our life upside down. Nowadays we can have friends from the entire world; we can have web conferences, get any kind of information in an instant and buy all kind of products.

The first online stores sold books back in 1992, and now you can buy everything on internet: clothing, tickets, electronics, etc…The only troubles that this system is facing is that the customer does not see the goods and the wait time because when we go into a retail store we see something that we like, we take it and we buy it; however, there are a lot of benefits on the on line shopping and this is why it is getting most popular every day, especially because of the costs, on line stores are much cheaper than a retail store. No rent and bills get paid, only web hosting and technical support.

Right now, all the brands are building their stores online because life is getting by so fast that people do not have enough time to go and buy from retail stores anymore, they want everything to be fast and easy, housewives order their market on line and they can have it on their door by the next day, we can buy our favorite jeans or presents at the same time without running thru all the store.

Jeanswear brands are putting all their collections on line and they are increasing their sales, production orders are increased to contractors and manufacturers in this sector.

Grupo Denim, a manufacturing leader company in Mexico, reports a sales increase after putting a website with all the company information and provided services. For Salomon Juan Marcos Villarreal, its president, even if the ecommerce represent the closing of so many retail stores in the beginning future and even if Grupo Denim does not sale jeans on line, their services are offered on its website and this has been a great jump for the company business. “As Bill Gates said: If your business is not on the internet, then your business will be out of business”, said Salomon Juan Marcos Villarreal.

Embroidery trends

Embroidery trends for apparel industry

Embroidery decorations are never out of fashion, we see jeans with embroideries on hip pockets, watch pockets, pick stitch along the out seam, etc…

All manufacturers in the apparel industry are always looking for new embroidery techniques, digitizing or even 3D embroidery. Here are the steps to follow when developing a new embroidery design:

  • PDF Artwork of the embroidery design
  • Digitize the design on the computer
  • Cut denim or any other fabric mock ups, a hip pocket for example.
  • Embroider the mock up in order to confirm the stitches are correctly set as per as the needed specifications.

Embroidery threads need to meet the embroidery machine capacities, tex 24 is the most common thread to be used in so many singular colors, multi colors, metallic, etc..

In the present, some of the brands are combining embroideries & heat transfers designs, the truth is that this trend is still present on each fashion seasons, more or less, but every jean has an embroiderer design on it.

Grupo Denim, as a leader manufacturing industry located in Gomez Palacio, Durango, Mexico, is always looking for new and more sophisticated embroidery machines in order to accomplish its customer’s needs that are showing an increase on their fashion jeans sales; therefore, more embroidery capacity is needed. “Even a 5 pocket jean takes an embroidery now, so embroidery is always on trend, Rock 47 by Wrangler is a brand that takes a lot of embroidery, so on every season we are seeing new designs, we are glad and proud to work with our partners’ designers by working as a one team only, and they have come with such a great ideas that makes every season so successful in sales, we start with a minimum order and our customers always come back to place an extra purchase order”, said Salomon Juan Marcos Villarreal, president of Grupo Denim.

Fabrics made of good quality

fabrics made of good quality

Importance of having a fabric made of good quality

Quality is the base for all enterprises in charge of manufacturing textile production and it will depend of a great effort to get it, such as prevention and a constant control on all of the areas of an enterprise.

“We demand our vendors to provide fabrics of the best quality, as that will help us delivering the best manufactured garments to our customers”, said Salomon Juan Marcos Villarreal, president of Grupo Denim.

In order to manufacture textiles of good quality, the companies need to make a careful selection of the best vendors of fibers and threads; they must guarantee deliveries of first quality materials.

The continuous and preventive maintenance to the machineries used to produce fabric is essential, as well as a quality control of raw materials.

All fabrics to be dyed have to meet the standards required by each customer, and in order to achieve this, they have to make solidity, shrinkage, weight among many other tests to each one of the fabrics produced, and process them for production after getting results for each test.

A fabric of good quality will mean an important saving of material, as it will allow the garment’s manufacturers to get exact cuts and avoid excessive waist.

Only those garments done with fabrics made of an excellent quality will lost longer and feel softer at the touch, manufacturers are aware of this and are constantly looking for vendors who are truly compromised with delivering a good product.

Grupo Denim has quality inspectors on each area, they are in charge to see closely each manufacturing process, inspect them and make sure they are meeting the right specifications on each step. Once the garments are finished, they are revalued once again with internal and external audits, to assure we are sending them in an excellent condition, with the best quality”, guaranteed Salomon Juan Marcos Villarreal.
